13. Hope Gives a New Beginning
Dear brothers and sisters,
The Israelites entered the Promised Land after years of wandering in the desert. God tells them, “Today I have removed the reproach of Egypt from you.” (Joshua 5:9) This moment marks a transition from slavery and suffering to freedom and fulfillment. They no longer rely on manna but eat the fruits of the land, signifying that God’s promise is now realized.
The prodigal son story is one of the most powerful illustrations of God’s mercy. The younger son squanders his inheritance but eventually returns, broken and ashamed. Instead of punishment, the father runs to embrace him, restoring him completely.
No matter how long we have wandered or struggled, He leads us to new beginnings. Hope in His mercy means trusting that He will remove our past burdens and bring us into a life of grace and abundance. Even when we have distanced ourselves from Him, He eagerly waits for our return. God's mercy is not reluctant but overflowing.
Many families experience painful separations due to misunderstandings, conflicts, addiction, or lifestyle choices. Yet, stories abound of parents who never give up hope for their children’s return. Despite the pain of separation, the families embrace their children with love and forgiveness to give a new beginning.
In our own lives, we may struggle with failures, sins, or doubts, but we are reminded that we can always start anew. God does not define us by our past mistakes but by His love for us. As we journey through Lent and prepare for Easter, may we hold onto this hope - trusting in the God who forgives, restores, and welcomes us home.
Blessings and prayers!
